JOY.project

is coming soon...

Why JOY?

As we got to know one another over time and compared notes, we found that if we were honest--with the exception of being in nature or hiking that new trail--life had been a bit of a slog.  We were dutiful, service-focused, self-sacrificing, serious and often taking the weight of the world on our shoulders.  When our bodies gave out with the pace and rigor of the lives we were choosing, when we physically couldn't hike or camp or explore the woods, our joys evaporated.  And it felt as though the slog of our lives before illness was swapped for a much harder daily slog after illness.

So much of healing has been about relearning to "do life" again: learning to stand, to walk, to sleep, learning what to eat and how to digest food, learning how to calm and care for ourselves in ways we had never learned before.  And at the end of this list was relearning how to feel joy.

So, big or small, light or profound, we're adding it in to our community.  Once we start looking, we find the possibility of joy EVERYWHERE.  It may not feel like that at first.  It took us awhile to recognize it.  But the more we look for it, the brighter it gets.  And before we know it, our lens on the world turns kaleidoscopic.

Sit tight.  More JOY is on the way.
